Welcome to the Minor Works Program
The Minor Works Program is all about building stronger, more connected neighbourhoods through participatory culture and shared responsibility. Rooted in nearly a decade of hands-on community work, it provides a clear methodology to help people come together, co-design projects, and create lasting positive change in their local area.
At the heart of the program is the idea of Socialannuation—the belief that, just as we invest financially for our future, we must also invest socially by building relationships, participating in community life, and supporting one another.
Here you’ll find free resources, training, and tools for community organisations, Councils, and neighbourhood groups who want to strengthen community life. Whether you’re starting small or planning bigger change, the Minor Works Program gives you the framework and inspiration to make it happen.

The Challenge
- Australians are experiencing growing social isolation and disconnection from decision-making.
- Trust in democracy is eroding.
- Many people, especially those facing disadvantage, feel excluded from shaping their neighbourhoods.
- Institutions struggle to engage communities in ways that build trust, inclusion, and resilience.
Our Insights
We know from over a decade of hands-on work that:
- Neighbourliness is an untapped resource.
- People want to contribute, but need accessible, meaningful pathways.
- Grassroots projects succeed when they are locally led and inclusive.

The Solution
The Minor Works Program creates easy, participatory opportunities for neighbours to:
- Co-design projects that matter locally.
- Collaborate and share responsibility for community spaces.
- Build lasting social ties and civic capacity.
Get Involved!
The Minor Works Program is designed to be open and accessible, and there are several ways to get involved. We provide free resources and training for community organisations, Councils, and other groups who want to improve their neighbourhoods and strengthen community life. Individuals can participate by joining local spark sessions, contributing ideas, or taking part in co-designed neighbourhood projects. Organisations and councils can partner with us to bring the program into their communities, using our methodology to build lasting participatory culture and resilience. However you connect, you’ll be helping invest in Socialannuation—building stronger, more inclusive communities for the future.
